Eating While Pregnant – 2nd Trimester

Originally when I was first planning this post I was going to do a What I Ate Wednesday sort of post. Back when I was attempting to blog previously, in around 2014 or so, the WIAW thing seemed to be what everyone was doing, it seems to have faded in popularity. Anyway as I began planning the post, I was thinking about what I would eat the day of my post and instead of it being an accurate reflection of what I was actually eating it became my interpretation of what I thought I was supposed to be eating. Pregnancy Update: Weeks 18 + 19

We’re halfway there!

Baby Size: Artichoke + Mango. Don’t get me started on the whole baby size as a fruit thing… I’m twenty weeks now and apparently the baby is the size of a banana, but at thirty weeks it’ll somehow be the size of a zucchini, aren’t they the same size!?!? I know, I know, I should just let it go. Continue reading

Pregnancy Update: The First Trimester

Just in case it wasn’t obvious, I’m pregnant! I have been debating for a while about whether or not to do a pregnancy blog. I’ve been keeping a journal for myself of how I’ve been feeling each week but I’ve really enjoyed reading other people’s pregnancy blogs. On the off chance that someone else will get something from my experience I’ve decided to add mine to the blog universe.

Archie’s Return

I have a confession to make, when I was a kid, I was obsessed with Archie Comics. I’d like to think of myself as a voracious reader, talking true literature, but there was a time in my life when all I wanted to read was Archie Comics (I also went through a Sweet Valley High phase, don’t judge…). Every time we were at the grocery store I would beg my parents to buy me one. What a genius marketing ploy to put them at grocery store checkout counters, do they still do that?

So of course I was a little intrigued when I heard that they were making a show for Netflix. Then a little while later I read an article that the show was actually pretty good. Finally, the nail in the coffin, home by myself on a Friday night, wondering what to watch on Netflix. Lo and behold, Netflix thought it’d be something I’d be interested in, apparently since I’d watched Gilmore Girls.

Big Little Lies

Did anyone watch the Oscars last night? Do people even watch the Oscars anymore? I usually tune in to watch part of the red carpet and the opening monologue. Apparently I missed all the drama!

I checked out of the Oscars to watch Episode 2 of Big Little Lies. I’ve been excited for this show to air. I liked the book, and they amped it up with a killer cast. I don’t have HBO so I missed last weeks episode and went to my mom’s house to watch the first two last night. I was definitely impressed.

Top Ten Tuesday – Rewind

I’ve been a bit of a slacker at blogging these past few weeks. My initial excitement and momentum from starting this blog is wearing off a little and I’m having to put a bit more thought and effort into it. Not that I’m not enjoying it, I’m just trying to find my groove, my routine now, rather than just excited blogging. Not to mention the Olympics has started, and as I mentioned in this post I’m a little bit obsessed with the Olympics. So I’m sticking with my Top Ten Tuesday post. Top Ten Tuesday is a link-up hosted over at the Broke and the Bookish and the theme for this week is *Rewind*, you can pick any previous weekly theme that you didn’t participate in.  That gives me a lot of options as I’ve just started participating. I’ve decided to go all the way back and pick the first one on the list, my Top Ten childhood favourites, because who doesn’t love to talk about the things we loved as kids.

1.Alanna – Tamora Pierce  I was obsessed with these books when I was younger and I think I read all of the Tamora Pierce books that came out (while I was a kid/teenager…). I was a tomboy when was I was younger so a story about a girl disguising as a boy to become a knight, right up my alley. Funny enough, I re-read this book recently and I remember finding it a bit racy when I was younger, but of course as an adult it seems rather tame now. Continue reading

Top Ten Tuesday

I had so much fun doing my first Top Ten Tuesday, that I decided to do another one. Some of the books I’m putting on my list this week are inspired from people’s lists last week. Top Ten Tuesday is a link-up hosted by The Broke and the Bookish and this week’s theme is the top ten books that you’d buy right now if someone handed you a fully loaded gift card. Shouldn’t be very hard to come up with ten books that I’d want to read right now, the hard part will be narrowing it down to ten only….

1. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child – This one is at the top of my list, but I’m also a little conflicted about it. It’s not written solely by JK Rowling so who knows what sort of influence the other writers will bring. Also, sometimes it’s better to leave well enough alone. I have very good memories of the Harry Potter world, am I ruining it by re-opening the door? Continue reading
